Narrative: Moved east from the southeast edge of Stanford, passing near Rowland, two miles east of Stanford. A piece of tin roofing ended up wrapped around a tree 500 yards to the east across an open field. Several cars were blown off US 127, resulting in injuries. Some called the storm "wrong-way" or "backward." For 11 days in 1966, cities across the state, including Topeka in Shawnee County, experienced 59 tornadoes. Trees and power poles were snapped between Oregon and Ebenezer. The tornado then weakened slightly as it moved into a subdivision damaging several small trees, sheds, and roofs. This seems odd, since the tornadoes were moving to the southeast, and Crawford and Harrison counties are directly southeast of Knox and Daviess counties.
